Position Summary:
Revolution Space is seeking an experienced senior level test engineer (minimum of 15-year experience) to support critical testing activities on deliverable spacecraft hardware. Duties will include test development, oversight, design, planning and operation. This role is crucial to the successful and timely development of our propulsion system products. Ideally, each candidate has experience with harsh environment testing: more specifically aerospace related testing. A strong emphasis will be on documentation including procedure development and data collection. This role also involves operating tests and data collection. Nearly all work involves advanced aerospace technologies such as vacuum chambers, ion beams and radiation hardened high voltage electronics.
The position is full-time, on-site in Boston, Maryland, or remote, and available to be filled immediately.
Responsibilities:
- Creating robust test plans including verification and validation tables
- Test procedure development for various types of tests
- Test design for critical flight hardware
- Oversight of complex, aerospace, environmental, vacuum and R&D testing
- Test operation and data collection
- Support of troubleshooting activities
- Test station support such as build-up, calibration, purchasing and maintenance
- Documentation of key activities such as test reports, quality control and failures
- Some oversight of test personnel
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
- 15 years integration and test or systems engineering experience
- Experience with standard lab equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, thermocouples/temp sensors
- Experience with qualification and acceptance testing of hardware products
- Experience with operating and troubleshooting embedded software systems
- Experience with environmental testing
- Experience in procedure development
- Experience working with ESD sensitive hardware
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency with MS Word & Excel
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a technical field.
- 20+ years of aerospace testing experience
- Vacuum chamber experience (<1 micro-Torr pressures)
- Experience with HiPot testers, current probes, temperature meters
- Experience working in cleanroom environments
- Aerospace environmental testing
- Environmental testing experience for harsh environments such as vibration, radiation, shock, thermal, humidity
- High voltage (up to 5 kV) rated equipment
- Familiarity with operating and troubleshooting embedded software systems
- Automated test equipment and data acquisition
- Experience with any of the following: Labview, Matlab, Python, Altium, SolidWorks, AutoCAD
