About the Role
As a member of the Operations Team, the Lab Operations Specialist is responsible for supporting all day-to-day operations. They will work closely with residents, vendors, lab operations team members, and The Engine Accelerator leadership to ensure the upkeep and maintenance of the labs and equipment. We are looking for an individual with a diverse range of skills and experiences, a customer service orientation, and enjoy working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Provide day-to-day laboratory operations support (consumables inventory, laboratory housekeeping, general management)
  • Support the Laboratory Operations Managers and resident companies with as needed laboratory tasks and special projects
  • Coordinate internal and external maintenance and calibrations of laboratory equipment
  • Write and review relevant SOPs
  • Manage consumables levels to ensure continuity of supplies while maximizing cost efficiencies
  • Assist in onboarding new resident companies to all applicable systems
  • Work with resident companies and Engine EHS to ensure hazardous material compliance and inventory
  • Maintain laboratory facilities and general housekeeping
  • Laboratory operational support as needed

Job Requirements

  • Mission-oriented, energetic and upbeat with the resilience and demeanor to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, while remaining calm and composed
  • 2-5 year experience with working in a laboratory environment
  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • Effective communication skills
  • Highly value teamwork
  • Take ownership over tasks and follow them through to completion
  • Detail-oriented and very organized, with solid time management skills
  • Independent, reliable, and willing to learn
  • Natural curiosity about what our teams are doing, and how to help them
  • Bring a fresh perspective and new ideas for improving experience and efficiency
  • Appropriately social with fellow team members, guests, and staff
  • The ability to work in-person on a full-time basis from Monday through Friday, including some early mornings and evenings
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Google Apps
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs.
