You'll join a team of innovative thinkers who love to experiment, collaborate, and win together. We are passionate about pushing the boundaries of automation, biology, computing, robotics, design, and user experience to benefit our customers and the world.
We’re looking for a Software Lead to define the architecture and execution of our full-stack software platform — spanning embedded firmware, embedded Linux, cloud infrastructure, and customer-facing tooling. This is a hands-on, high-impact role at the intersection of systems engineering, cloud services, embedded software, and automation.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead and grow the software engineering team across firmware, embedded, backend, and cloud domains
- Define and own the overall software architecture for robotics platforms and cloud services
- Drive software development from design through delivery and long-term maintenance
- Establish development processes, standards, and best practices
- Implement scalable infrastructure for remote monitoring, dashboards, and over-the-air updates
- Collaborate closely with hardware, mechanical, systems, product, and operations teams to ensure cohesive end-to-end system design
- Manage external software vendors and contractor partnerships
- Participate in hiring, mentoring, and performance development
- Dive deep into our platform architecture and cross-functional workflows
- Establish early patterns for architecture, tooling, and engineering processes
- Begin scaling engineering practices to match product needs
- Own key cross-stack domains and drive major architectural decisions
- Mentor and support software engineers across teams
- Lead delivery of significant system capabilities
- Be the primary software technical leader influencing long-term roadmap and cross-functional priorities
- Have built out scalable practices and demonstrated impact on product and team performance

WHO YOU ARE
- 7+ years of software engineering experience with significant ownership of complex systems
- Strong leadership experience, including hiring, mentoring, and scaling engineering teams
- Proven track record with embedded systems (firmware & Linux)
- Experience designing backend services and cloud infrastructure (AWS or equivalent)
- Demonstrated ability to build scalable and maintainable software systems
- Excellent communicator and cross-functional collaborator
- Comfortable in a fast-paced startup environment with evolving requirements
- Robotics or automation software experience
- Biomedical or medical device software experience
- Exposure to regulated environments or quality system
Nice to Have
This is a full-time position that requires a significant amount of in-person work and collaboration onsite at our Seaport Office in Boston, MA. If you are unable to relocate or commute to the Boston MA area, this role won't be a match.

160000 - 190000 USD a year
This range reflects the target compensation for this role across our U.S. locations. Actual pay will depend on experience, education, and skill level. We regularly review our pay practices to ensure equity and fairness.
